The +Turismo+Sabor Project

The project aims to create, in the Alto Tamega, a collaborative network betweeen organizations in the sectors of Tourism and Agri-Food, aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the business and the image of the region as well as encouraging innovation and a cooperation strategy for the internationalization of organizations, always in line with the regional strategy for smart specialization (RIS3) and with the Alto Tâmega Territorial Development Strategy.

+Turismo+Sabor has been developed in partnership between ACISAT – Associação Empresarial do Alto Tâmega and ADRAT – Associação de Desenvolvimento Regional do Alto Tâmega, in cooperaton with Alto Tâmega Intermunicipal Community and Chaves Professional School, and focusing in Alto Tâmega NUT-III region.

The Goal

Project + TURISMO + SABOR contemplates an innovative approach in the region, through the methodological approach that combines a sector-based / economic sector intervention where the principles of smart specialization and related variety will be applied, with a territorial base intervention operated by the different institutions that support the development process of the newly created region.
The Flavors of Alto Tâmega are the starting point for this project, which aims at enhancing the excellence of the region’s agrifood products, reinforcing the brand image of the region Tourism and, simultaneously creating synergies between the two sectors that should be capable of originating new forms of work and new products, thus contributing to the affirmation of the name and excellence of Alto Tâmega and its products, and to the dynamization of the entire regional economy.

The Strategy

The regional strategy of smart specialization – North 2020, advocates that the strategic bets of each region should be drawn from “existing resources and assets (technological and non-technological) and the capacity to develop a resident business base sufficiently competitive on a global scale.”. (in Estratégia Regional de Especialização Inteligente – Norte 2020).
